Golf Course Review: Fire Ridge Golf Club
One of the best golf values in the area!
Having lived in several parts of the country I've found the part of Wisconsin that I currently reside in (Sheboygan County) to be lacking in mid priced quality golf courses. There are the local hangouts where one can find a "game" and the high end Golf Digest Top 100's that will run you $150 plus but not much in the 40 to 50 dollar price range.
Located a half an hour South of me, Fire Ridge fits the profile. I played it once a season the past several years and while it is an interesting layout in good shape I thought it over priced at $60 and not all that well suited to my game - 7,000 yards plus is too long for such a windy spot, 6,400 keeps the driver in the bag, too much, for my taste.
Because of a different marketing approach, numerous specials announced via the internet and a new set of blue tees I played Fire Ridge five or six times this past season and thoroughly enjoyed each visit.
The course was in very good shape Spring, Summer and Fall - the "on special" fees - $44 with a cart and range balls - fit my budget and I find that at 6,700 yards I used every club in my bag or close to it every time out. When I hit it well, I scored well, when I didn't, I didn't, that's golf and that's what you'll get at Fire Ridge!
